Ms. Refilwe Kumalo

Refilwe Kumalo, the visionary founder of Refilwe SK Productions, brings her vibrant creativity and passion for storytelling to every project. Growing up in Soweto and armed with a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Anthropology from the University of the Witwatersrand, Refilwe has crafted an impressive six-year career in the media industry. Her journey began as a production intern at Red Pepper Pictures, where she worked on celebrated shows like “Our Perfect Wedding,” “Utatakho,” and “Diski Divas.” Refilwe quickly rose to prominence, taking on the role of production manager for the first season of the American format show “Lip Sync Battle” and broadening her expertise through youth-based magazine shows at the SABC. Her journey then led to Moja Love TV, where she spent two transformative years creating powerful, conversation-sparking formats, including the reality show “Umdeni.”

Refilwe’s extensive experience spans all facets of production, including live and prerecorded shoot coordination, crew and supplier management, budgeting, research, script development, storyboarding, content creation, talent management, audience coordination, and the seamless execution of production operations. Following her impactful work at Moja Love TV, Refilwe took a sabbatical in 2019, which marked the beginning of her new venture, Refilwe SK Productions.
